Programs
The "Voices Of Africa" Choral
& Percussion Ensemble began its professional journey in 1989 as an
African-American Children's Ensemble. Since that time it has
evolved into an All Women's A Cappella and West African Percussion
Ensemble. As it evolved and expanded it labored to meet the
needs of the Ensemble members as well as the participants at every
venue. We believe in the healing power an magic that emanates
from every song and drum rhythm we play. Our music is more than
entertainment, it is educational, inspiring, motivational, spiritual
and healing. The Testimonies show what our programs have given
audiences over the past 11 years.
Our repertoire is inclusive and suitable for a vast array of educational venues and
programs. We custom make our presentations so that they can be
offered in the classroom setting, at conferences and seminars, weekend
retreats, diversity celebrations and cultural expos. We have been
showcased at various colleges throughout the United States during Black
History Month, Women's History Month, International Week Festivals,
African-American History Programs and Cultural Diversity Festivals,
Seminars, Workshops and Conferences.
A sampling of
the Colleges & Universities where we have made our presentations
are: La Salle University, College of Textiles & Sciences, Temple
University, University of Penn, Drexel University, Community College of
Phila., NJ, Rutgers, Princeton U. , University of Minnesota, Mankato,
Middle Tennessee U, Penn State U, Swarthmore College, Clarion U and
Haverford College, to name a few. We will be traveling to Clark
U, University of Denver, and several others on the West, Mid-West and
South during the coming school year 2000-2001. In addition, we
have done many pre-school, elementary and high school programs too
numerous to mention.
