The
"Voices Of Africa" Choral
& Percussion Ensemble began its professional journey in 1989 as an
African-American Children's Ensemble. Since that time it has
evolved into an All Women's A Cappella and West African Percussion
Ensemble. As it evolved and expanded it labored to meet the
needs of the Ensemble members as well as the participants at every
venue. We believe in the healing power an magic that emanates
from every song and drum rhythm we play. Our music is more than
entertainment, it is educational, inspiring, motivational, spiritual
and healing. The Testimonies show what our programs have given
audiences over the past 17 years.
Our repertoire is inclusive and suitable for a vast array of
educational venues and
programs. We custom make our presentations so that they can be
offered in the classroom setting, at conferences and seminars, weekend
retreats, diversity celebrations and cultural expos. We have been
showcased in 2005 at NACA National Conference. We have also made
appearances abroad, in Ghana, Canada and the University of Loughborough, in May
2006. Colleges and Universities have invited us to participate in
programming that included Black
History Month, Women's History Month, International Week Festivals,
African-American History Programs and Multi-Cultural Diversity Festivals,
Seminars, Workshops and Conferences.

Mission
Statement
We believe that we can uplift,
educate and enlighten everyone we come in contact with by professionally
performing Musical & Creative Expressions that acknowledge our African
and African American
Heritage.
Purpose
The purpose is three-fold:
1. To learn, teach and demonstrate using the vehicle
of the performing arts of songs and African Percussions.
2. To enlighten and instill in our audiences pride for
African Heritage across the Diaspora. 3. To extend through the music, a powerful, culturally
deep and valuable message about changing the conditions of our present world
thus making it a better place in which to live.
